Business Continuity Plan

Star Financial Group’s Business Continuity Planning

Star Financial Group has developed a Business Continuity Plan outlining how we will respond to events that significantly disrupt our business. Since the timing and impact of disasters and disruptions are unpredictable, we must remain flexible in our response to actual events as they occur. With that in mind, we are providing you with this information regarding our business continuity plan.

Contacting Us – If, after a significant business disruption, you cannot reach us as usual at 917-885-3180 or via email at rob@svgfinancial.com, you should call IBN Financial at 315-652-4426 or visit our website at www.starfg.com.
If you cannot access us through any of these means, you may contact our clearing firm, Charles Schwab, at 877-774-3892 for instructions on how they may assist you in accessing and trading your accounts.
Please note: Neither Star Financial Group nor IBN Financial holds or custodies client funds or securities. Refer to your account statements for additional custodian contact information.

Our Business Continuity Plan
We plan to quickly recover and resume business operations after a significant disruption by safeguarding our employees and property, conducting a financial and operational assessment, protecting the firm’s books and records, and enabling our customers to continue transacting business.
In short, our business continuity plan is designed to allow us to resume operations as promptly as possible, considering the scope and severity of the disruption.

Our plan addresses the following:

  • Data backup and recovery
  • All mission-critical systems
  • Financial and operational assessments
  • Alternative communications with customers, employees, and our broker-dealer
  • Alternate physical locations for employees
  • Impact on critical suppliers, contractors, banks, and counterparties
  • Regulatory reporting
  • Ensuring customers have prompt access to their funds and securities if we are unable to continue business

Our custodial relationships with Charles Schwab and Argent Financial, as well as internal safeguards, ensure that important records are backed up in geographically separate locations.
While every emergency poses unique challenges, we have been advised by our custodians that their objective is to restore operations quickly, complete existing transactions, and accept new trades and payments as soon as possible. Please note that orders and requests for funds or securities may be delayed during such periods.
