Ethereum

What Is Ethereum?

Ethereum is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables smart contracts—self-executing programs that run exactly as coded, without intermediaries. Launched in 2015, Ethereum is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, with its native token called Ether (ETH).

While Bitcoin is primarily seen as a digital store of value, Ethereum powers the infrastructure behind decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, tokenization, and blockchain-based applications. It’s become the foundation for much of the innovation happening in the digital asset space.

Ethereum recently transitioned to a proof-of-stake model, significantly reducing its energy consumption—an important step toward sustainable blockchain use. Major institutions are exploring Ethereum for settlement, automation, and programmable financial contracts.

With growing adoption, new ETFs in development, and integration into financial systems, Ethereum is emerging as both a growth asset and a technology investment. For investors, ETH offers exposure to the broader blockchain ecosystem and next-generation financial infrastructure.
